MEDICAL ATTENTION IN BORDEAUX - FRANCE

(English spoken in the Public Hospitals of Bordeaux!)

The public hospitals of Bordeaux received the award of the best French hospital by the French journal "Le Point" in July 2005.
They are able to take care of the english speaking patients in their 3 sites :
  1. Hospital St André (St Andre Hospital)
This hospital located in the center of Bordeaux is mainly dedicated to cancer.

  2. Hospital Pellegrin (Pellegrin Hospital)
The emergency unit can receive patients 24h/24h. This hospital also integrates orthopedical and neurosurgical departments.

  3. Hospital Haut Lévêque (Haut Leveque Hospital)
This hospital located in Pessac is one of the main French cardiological hospitals.

The hospitals of Bordeaux are connected to an imaging network. So the CT and MR examinations are filmless.
The images are archived in the hospital PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).

If the patient wants his/her examination, he/she will be given a CD-Rom with all the images.

The images are archived in the international medical imaging standard called DICOM (Digital Image and COmmunication in Medicine).
So the images archived on the CD-Rom could be read all over the world.

The transmission of images with patient datas must be encrypted via Internet, so the hospitals of Bordeaux don't recommand to send images but to give a CD-Rom. Thus the patient has the opportunity to request a second advice in his/her country.
